Just hear me out on this one.
This game has been around for years and has definitely seen drastic changes. Some of these changes have upset many players (myself included), but RuneScape still draws in over 50,000 users each day. This shows that the game still holds something that people love. Because of this game's long history it has developed LOTS of playable content. Whether you are attracted to passive activities like farming crops or just straight up killing RuneScape has it. With new content still being developed actively I doubt this game will be going away anytime soon.Combat:
In RuneScape you get to choose from the three traditional video game classes which are the melee (warrior), ranged (archer), and magic (caster). You also get to participate in both PvM (player versus monster) and PvP (player vs player) fighting.
Melee: This is probably the most popular way to fight things in RuneScape. This class might be categorized as just someone who fights within fist swinging distance, but in this game you have many options with the variety of gear sets to choose from. Gear sets can give your avatar the ability to land extremely high damage hits when at low hit points or kill your opponents in a few quick lethal strikes with the help of weapons that have exclusive abilities. What I'm saying is RuneScape has a combat style for you no matter what it is.
Ranged: Don't like getting in people's faces when fighting? That's perfectly fine. This class allows you to wield bows, crossbows, and even hand sized cannons to deal with your foes from a safe distance. This class doesn't have quite the same gear selection as the melee class, but the ones that are available are strong enough to handle most everything.
Magic: Just as the title implies. You use runes to cast spells on your enemy. While defense might not be the the mage's strong suit the offensive part certainly is. You are able to throw out spells quickly and cast weakening spells on your enemies.
Skilling:
Maybe killing monsters isn't up your alley? No matter. RuneScape has another spectrum of things to do without having to equip bulky armor. This game offers skills to train such as woodcutting, fishing, mining, thieving, and too many more to list here. Training these skills can help to level up other skills and also put a hefty amount of gold coins in your pocket. There are even players who have their RuneScape account exclusively for skilling.
Quests:
Still not enough? Besides training your skills in both combat and collecting there are quests that need to be completed for the many NPCs who are in despair. With some of these quests requiring high skill levels to complete there is much to be done.
Overall.
P.S.
I know that I didn't mention anything about the Old School RuneScape game loved by much of the community just because this is for people who haven't played the old version and will probably not enjoy an outdated version of a game that is already viewed as behind the times. I'm not at all saying that I don't enjoy the old one because I do and actively play it.
