Is that even English?
Well no. The word osu or oss is Japanese and has a variety of meanings. It can range from the verb to push, a greeting for good morning, or even the shortened version of "It would be my pleasure." This game however has nothing to do with either of those three things really. This game is more of a challenge of speed and reaction. Sounds super lame right? I thought so too until I downloaded it with a few songs and really got into it!
Standard Mode
Its hard to describe the object of the game with a picture, but you have to click the appropriate dot when the outer circle around it touches the edge. (Worst explanation ever) How hard could it be press buttons at the right time? Well when there are many circles bouncing around your screen at insane speeds it can be a real test. One thing that helps to hit the beats on time is the music that plays with the game. Each beatmap you download comes with a track and typically goes with the speed of dots.
Other Game Modes
The picture above shows an additional game mode called Taiko. The red and blue faces correspond with keys on your keyboard. They each make a different drum sound. This mode is a good one to start on because there are only a few buttons and the levels start off slow. Of course as you improve you can increase the difficulty.
The last game mode I will mention here is osu! mania. This one is very similar to the popular game Guitar Hero. I haven't played this mode much (mostly because I'm uncoordinated with this many buttons) so I don't have a lot to go off of. But if you're a fan of this type maybe this is the mode you will get attached to.
P.S.
This game isn't very popular so I thought I would post it here to let people see a game aside from the mainstream stuff. If you do try it don't get down on yourself if you fail the levels. This game takes a lot of coordination and practice which I still don't have down completely after playing for almost two years.
